Design Achievement
Located in Papillion, a suburb of Omaha, the PayPal Omaha campus has served as a significant source of employment for the local community throughout the years. To aid in recruitment and employee retention, DLR Group was commissioned to renovate the main building's office space. Employing innovative concepts, the interior designers crafted a flexible working environment akin to what is typically offered by prominent technology companies. A key aspect of the design approach involved incorporating large experiential wall graphics to brand distinct sections of the expansive space and foster a sense of community among the staff. These updated areas, referred to as neighborhoods, feature enhanced meeting spaces, revitalized kitchen and break areas, modernized mobile-friendly furniture, as well as a new cafeteria and workout center.
Scope Summary
In the interior update project, DLR Group and the client team made a deliberate choice to incorporate the rich history of Omaha into the design. To accomplish this, multiple Omaha neighborhoods were prominently featured, including Aksarben, Bellevue, Benson, Blackstone, Dundee, LaVista, North Omaha, Old Market, and South Omaha. The design emphasized vintage imagery, unique patterns inspired by local architecture, and custom illustrations of notable community figures. The colorful experiential graphics injected vibrancy and vitality into the new space while also serving as wayfinding elements within the expansive floorplan. DLR Group was responsible for providing interior design and experiential graphic design services.
